Amien Rais and Yudhoyono attended a campaign and a gathering with West Sumatran public figures.

Padang, W Sumatra – National Mandate Party (PAN) senior figure Amien Rais` presence in Padang, West Sumatra, to accompany presidential aspirant Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will contribute to the latter`s attempts to win the July election.

“Pak Amien Rais is present, and it will increase optimism that Yudhoyono and his running mate Boediono will win the upcoming July presidential election,” the SBY-Boediono national campaign team spokesman Andi Alifian Malarangeng said in a campaign here on Monday.

On the sidelines of the election campaign in Padang, Amien Rais also accompanied Yudhoyono in performing the Magrib prayer at Muhammadiyan Taqwa mosque on Monday evening.

After the prayer, Amien Rais and Yudhoyono attended a campaign and a gathering with West Sumatran public figures.

According to Malarangeng, Amien Rais` presence increased an optimism that the Yudhoyono-Boediono pair would have a landslide victory not only in West Sumatra but all over Indonesia as well.
