YouTube Released Short URL Youtu.be

Short URL addresses for easy sharing via the various social networking sites was used by YouTube. Video sharing site was launched a short URL with address youtu.be.

Utilization will help the spread of YouTube links to various social sites like Twitter, Facebook, and others.

Before YouTube, Google and Facebook had previously been more use short URLs like that. Google launches Facebook Goo.gl while using Fb.me. Goo.gl services are only used on the Toolbar and RSS feeds in Feedburner service and so far not been used in other services. While the new Fb.me designed for mobile services.
