Golkar scolds MP over fuel policy inquiry

June 29th, 2008 | by Indonesia First |

Golkar Party has reprimanded its outspoken lawmaker Yuddhy Khrisnandi for voting for an inquiry by the House of Representatives into the government’s fuel price hike policy.

The decision to officially reprimand Yuddhy was made during a national leadership meeting in Jakarta on Saturday, Golkar chairman and Vice President Jusuf Kalla said as quoted by Antara.

Yuddhy has been rebuked for taking a “different stance” from Golkar, which voted against the inquiry petitioned by at least 117 lawmakers, Jusuf said.

“Yuddhy Chrisnandi will get a written reprimand. It’s a yellow card. As in a soccer game, there are yellow cards and red cards,” Kalla said after chairing the leadership meeting.

“All organizations have their own rules, and the Golkar Party also has its own regulations. To uphold the party’s integrity, there must be (rules on dispensing) sanctions,” Kalla added.
